Saved from what?

When a person says, “I have been saved.”  The normal response, rather the question is usually voiced, “Saved from what?

It is a good question and well deserving of an answer. The answer is multifaceted – meaning it has many responses.  The truth is we all need saving. To be saved, one must first realize the standpoint of being lost.

When God formed mankind, He made male and female; and He made them perfect.  Yet, mankind was disobedient and destroyed the perfect union between man and God. We lost our relationship with God, the Father.

God loves all humans, so much so He desires to draw us back to Him.  Mankind is sinful and the just reward for our sins is human death.  The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) Death is our penalty.  It is our price for disobedience and we cannot purchase forgiveness. We cannot earn life everlasting.  We fall short on our own accord. (Romans 3:23)  Nothing we alone can do will change the deserved retribution.  However, God’s Love is greater than any conceivable punishment and it is free.

Grace is God’s gift to us.  Through His grace, God sent Jesus, His Son.  (John 3:16) He sent Jesus in effort to satisfy our debt . Jesus chose to sacrifice Himself, in turn for our death sentence.  He saves us.

If Jesus had not come to earth in human form, we would all die and face forever in a terrible place.  Satan invites us to Hell daily.  Our actions and performances, sometimes demonstrate how we deserve nothing more. If we fail to recognize our sins, we will end up there.

Christ Jesus came so that we would be given the open invitation to everlasting life with God in heaven above.(John 3:17) By admitting we are sinners and claiming Jesus as Lord of our lives, we can be saved.  (Romans 10:9)

We can be saved from eternal damnation.  We can be saved from Satan’s plans.  We can be saved from Hell by believing in God’s faithful plan of salvation.  By believing Jesus is God’s Son; that He came to Earth and lived a perfect life; only to be crucified on a cross; and knowing He arose three days later and soon ascended to His Father in Heaven – and by having faith in His return for His church – we ca be saved.

Are you saved? You can be!!
